CUT A RUG
Boucherouite, hand-loomed rag rugs from Morocco. Bu sherwit in Moroccan = scrap torn from old clothing. A fine example of recycling textiles! Images courtesy Berber-Arts.
Inspiration: John Divola
We have been looking at these photographs from John Divola’s 1977 “Zuma” project, which were all composed in deserted houses along Zuma Beach. He would graffiti the walls and arrange objects and debris to compose photographs of the beach sky through the windows. This resulted in a series of strange and beautiful images that rest between documentation and abstraction. All images courtesy LACMA online.
